Nike’s newest in-house design line, N. 354, is taking classic silhouettes from yesteryear and updating them with a fresh, new deconstructed look that is both experimentally modern and sentimentally reverent.
Taking on the Nike All Court 2, one can barely make out the basic design lines, leaving the shoe otherwise unrecognizable. Think of it as the silhouetteleft at the cutting room floor in its blueprint stage and finished off with whatever was left in the scrap drawer.
With minimal branding and a bricolage spirit, the redux adventurously and eccentrically modifies the iconic tennis shoe and updates it in new materials. An autoclave construction fuses the outsole to the midsole for a streamlined look while a rubber toe cap enhances durability. A padded foam tongue finishes off the new look while aseemingly handwritten N. 354 gives off the perception of a personally numbered product.
